the sparkEngineering
Every system needs a spark.
It started with wanting to know how things work. Engineering gave me the toolkit — break a system down, understand every part, and build it back better.
I’m Tejas Patel — passionate about technology that makes a positive impact. My background sits at the intersection of data science and technology, with a focus on energy, autonomous vehicles and data engineering.
my story
the sparkEngineering
It started with wanting to know how things work. Engineering gave me the toolkit — break a system down, understand every part, and build it back better.
generationEnergy
Then the Kaikōura earthquake hit. In the aftermath I worked on rebuilding critical electrical infrastructure — and saw first-hand how much a community depends on its power. Energy stopped being a subject and became a calling.
transmissionData & analytics
I realised the energy transition runs on data — the better we read it, the faster we move. So I moved to the US to go deeper, earning a master’s in Engineering Management with a focus on data science and energy markets.
intelligenceAutonomous vehicles
Eager to put it all to work, I joined the world of autonomous vehicles — applying data, analytics and engineering to help scale commercial operations, faster.
the grid todayMadison Energy
Today at Madison Energy, I’m helping modernise energy for industry and communities where it matters most — bringing digital and AI into how customers experience their energy, and unlocking new capabilities that let us keep delivering more innovative solutions.
what’s nextPositive impact
AI is about to rewire how we build energy — and I want to be right in the middle of it. Battery storage that thinks ahead. Grid infrastructure that keeps pace with data centers and EVs. A real path for nuclear. And communities that actually feel the difference on their bills. That’s the next frontier, and I can’t wait to help build it.
